James A. Netter established Netter Real Estate over forty-five years ago after working with and being trained by his father, a well-known and respected member of the real estate community on Long Island. Jim, at 18 years of age, was a stockbroker trainee commuting to Manhattan. When he was asked to fill in at the brokerage one weekend, he sold two homes and another two homes the following weekend! It was clear that the family business ran in his blood and it was time for him to move into the real estate world.
Years later Jim’s father, Joseph X. Netter, sold the business to a local company. Jim, who lived in West Islip with his wife and two children, decided to leave real estate and take up clamming on the Great South Bay. After a year and a half, Jim returned to real estate. He branched out on his own, targeting Lindenhurst to Sayville as his primary marketing communities. This little one-man independent office has now expanded west to the Massapequa’s and east to Patchogue. Together with his wife, Kristina, as the head Administrator, they have grown the company to over 80 agents and a dozen admins.
As a resident of Oak Beach and one who spent a lot of time on Fire Island, it was only natural to expand his business to the barrier island. In the summer of 2018, Netter Beach Estates was born, a satellite office in Ocean Beach. Jim has been providing the same exceptional services he and his team are known for to the Fire Island community.
Not only is Jim the Owner/Broker, but he has made it a priority to give back to the industry. He has dedicated innumerable hours of service on the Board of Directors of the Multiple Listing Service and Long Island Board of Realtors, as well as a past president of the Multiple Listing Service of Long Island and on the MLS Executive Committee and LIBOR's Professional Standards Committee.
In addition to the many professional organizations Jim belongs to, he is also known for his generosity to the community. He is a proud sponsor of Gigi's Playhouse Long Island which offers free educational and therapeutic services for individuals with Down syndrome as well as Helping Hands in West Islip, which inspires children and the community to unite in an effort to assist local Long Island children in need.
As the industry is ever changing, the one thing that will always stay the same for Jim is his focus on growth for Netter Real Estate and Netter Beach Estates. He is committed to not only his clients but to his employees and the community, as well. One may not know what the future holds; however, Jim intends to continue providing the same superior services as Netter Real Estate has “since 1949”.
